We celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on the weekend of February 1 and 2. It is also called Candlemas because traditionally candles are blessed at the start of the Mass - bring your candles to be blessed! Candles symbolize Christ as the “light of the world,” dispelling the darkness of sin and ignorance. On this same weekend, we will also offer the traditional blessing of throats in honor of St. Blaise, the patron saint of sufferers from throat diseases, whose feast is celebrated on February 3. |
